Queensland Ballet Academy opens Foundation Program applications
Queensland Ballet Academy has opened registrations for Brisbane-based children aged 8 – 11 years to attend a Pre-selection Experience as part of the entry process into the Academy’s new Foundation Program. This event is held in lieu of a formal audition into the Program’s inaugural 2021 intake.
The Pre-selection Experience involves an after-school visit to the Academy’s state-of-the-art new facilities in Kelvin Grove; the event consists of a building tour, teacher meet and greet, class observation and guided group session.
The Experience will take place at Queensland Ballet Academy, Kelvin Grove on 25 November 2020 for students aged 8 – 9, and 26 November 2020 for students aged 10 – 11. Registration is free of charge, and participants do not need prior ballet or dance experience to attend. Each session is capped at 80 participants to adhere to COVID-Safe event regulations.
From 2021, the Foundation Program is the first entry point into Queensland Ballet Academy’s suite of professional training programs. The Program is designed as an introduction to professional ballet training for children residing in the Brisbane metropolitan area, delivered during after school hours.
Academy Director, Christian Tátchev said: “The Foundation Program is specifically designed to nurture a love of the art of ballet in young children. As well as girls, we very much encourage boys to come and explore the physicality and enjoyment of dance. Whether they grow up to be the next Nureyev or an avid theatregoer, the joy of ballet will be the focus for all those selected to join this exciting new program!”
