Contemporary Course

Queensland Ballet Academy Contemporary Course

Under the direction of our Head of Contemporary Dance and Resident Choreographer, Louise Deleur, the Contemporary Course is an additional pathway available within our Upper School.

Students may transition from our Upper School classical course into the Contemporary Course, or audition to enrol directly into the course through the Academy audition process.

This program is an exciting course designed to equip dancers with a strong, hybrid skill set across both ballet and contemporary techniques, in preparation for pre-professional and tertiary contemporary dance studies.

Graduates of this unique course will be primed to progress into further training as strong, classically trained pre-professional dancers with highly developed skills attained through a focused development of a range of contemporary dance techniques and specialised skills including partnering, improvisation and choreography.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
