2027 signals a defining moment for the Academy of Queensland Ballet. With a relocation to the Thomas Dixon Centre, refined program offerings and a refreshed approach to training and operations, the Academy is evolving to meet the demands of the next generation of dancers.

This bold transformation creates a unified, future-focused training environment — one that strengthens the connection to Queensland Ballet, clarifies progression pathways, and deepens each student’s immersion in professional practice.

#2027 Academy Programs

Associate Program (Levels 9 – 4)

After‑school training | Part‑time

Designed to complement students’ existing education and community dance training, the Associate Program provides structured, professional ballet training in an after‑school format.

Academy Program (Levels 3 – 1)

Full‑time professional training

The Academy Program is for highly committed dancers preparing for professional careers. This program offers immersive training within Queensland Ballet’s professional environment and is the most intensive pathway within the Academy.

Associate Program+ (Levels 7 – 1)

Enhanced training | Termly intensives

An extension of the Associate Program for students seeking additional training opportunities. Includes one week of intensive training per school term, designed for students living outside the Brisbane metropolitan area, wanting to experience a taste of professional dance training at the Academy of Queensland Ballet.

Clark Graduate Program

Clark Graduate Program

Post-Secondary

A full-time program bridging the gap between training and employment, preparing students for a career with a professional ballet company.

#The Audition Process

Entry into the Academy’s training programs is by selection session, audition, or invitation. There are several opportunities to audition in-person or via video.

For dancers attending an in-person audition, they will participate in an open ballet class and, depending upon the program requirements, contemporary class plus call-back. Registrants are not required to pre-prepare any material, though some dancers may be required to undertake an interview.

#Video Audition Guidelines

Video auditions are available for those who are unable to attend an in-person audition. This is applicable for intra- and interstate students as well as international students wanting to apply for the following programs:

- Clark Graduate Program
- Academy Program (Levels 3 to 1)
- Associate Program (Levels 6 to 4)
- Associate Program+ (Levels 7 to 1)

Please note that this is the first stage in the video audition process and applicants may be asked to attend a live audition class prior to being made an offer.

Please ensure you have read the registration and participation Terms and Conditions before applying to audition. Due to the nature of the program, auditions are held exclusively via video application.

#Jette Parker Young Artist and Company Auditions

Queensland Ballet audition registrations for apprenticeship and company positions can be accessed on the company auditions webpage and will open 15 May 2026. Applicants wishing to apply for both the Clark Graduate Program and Jette Parker Young Artist Program please complete both the Company and Clark Graduate audition registrations. Please note the Company registration form will be sent to Clark Graduate Program applicants in their audition confirmation email, should they wish to apply.

Events

The Academy of Queensland Ballet offers a range of workshops and training events for aspiring young dancers, to improve their technique, dance with their peers and learn from our esteemed faculty. Participation in these events is open to all!

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
