Where tomorrow’s stars shine today

Celebrate the future of ballet at our annual Academy Gala. Featuring a dazzling mix of classical, neo-classical, and contemporary works, this event showcases the technical skill and artistry of the Academy’s Lower and Upper Schools as well as the Clark Pre-Professional Program dancers.

Audiences will be inspired by new creations, celebrated repertoire, and the thrilling Academy Défilé, uniting all levels of training on stage. A proud highlight of the year, the Gala offers a glimpse into the next generation of ballet stars destined for stages worldwide.

The Academy Gala choreography will include works by Paul Boyd, Camilo Ramos, Amelia Waller, Grant Aris, alongside pieces derived from the traditional classical repertoire.

Flappa Dappa
A vibrant, high-energy dance work inspired by the dazzling spirit of the roaring twenties. The choreography blends authentic Charleston-inspired movements with contemporary dance, capturing the bold confidence and rebellious freedom that defined the era.

Earth Whisper
A contemporary dance work that explores the intimate relationship between humanity and the natural world. Through fluid movement, dynamic group formations, and evocative imagery, the piece gives voice to the Earth as a living presence that communicates through wind, water, soil, and silence.

Persona

Persona is an exploration of personality, conformity, and belonging. Inspired by Jungian archetypes, performers embody contrasting traits that collide, merge, and transform as they negotiate the delicate balance between individuality and the desire to conform.

Through the Grapevine

Erin, Level 1

My piece was initially inspired by the element of wind. I explored its individual characteristics, which led me to the idea of whispers. While existing in different contexts, these concepts share similar characteristics. Wind acts as a force that carries natural elements from one place to another, while whispers carry information, through gossip, from person to person. Both move in dynamic and unpredictable ways, spreading beyond their original source and creating connections between people and places

Consumed by the Wind

Kara, Level 3

My piece is inspired by the growing intensity and uncontrollable force of wind and the vital role of breath. The choreography draws on imagery such as drifting feathers, swaying trees, floating objects, and powerful storms to explore the relationship between control and surrender. Through breath-driven movement and increasing physical intensity, the work progresses from gentle, flowing motion to overwhelming chaos, before ending in sudden stillness where only breath remains. This final moment highlights the connection between wind and breathing, transforming an external force into something internal and deeply human.

Reverb

Isla, Level 1

Entitled “Reverb” this piece explores the movement of water ripples. Inspired by the image of a stone being dropped into a body of water, it follows the endless ripples that emerge each echoing, expanding, and never truly disappearing. The piece considers the constant flow of energy and movement, revealing how even the smallest action can create a lasting resonance.

Assimilate

Finn H, Level 2

Assimilate is my own choreographed work that was inspired by the transformative nature of consumption. Drawing on the way that the element consumes in a different way to alter and reshape what it touches into another state of being.

I’m OK

Catherine, Level 2

Inspired by the theme of elements, my piece is titled “I’m OK”, which on top of the literal meaning of okay, symbolises the bond between the elements on the periodic table, oxygen, O, and potassium, K. My piece explores potassium’s journey from confidence in its ability to give away it's one valence electron so it can become stable, to desperately and frantically searching for literally anyone to take it. But no one wants it. He feels rejected and unloveable — something we can all empathise with. Until he meets oxygen who’ll take it … but there’s a cost — death. Does he die a hero or live unloved?
