In addition to our intra- and interstate dancers, the Academy of Queensland Ballet also welcomes students from across the world into our training programs. In recent years, we have proudly trained students from Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. International students enrolled in our programs enjoy the same benefits as our local students which include working within a professional environment to advance their ballet and dance skills. Each year, we accept international students into the Clark Graduate Program and Academy Program (Levels 3 – 1).
Studying overseas
Studying overseas provides a unique opportunity to meet, train, and share knowledge with students all over the world. Located in Brisbane—Queensland’s capital city—Academy students get to experience our vibrant and diverse city. Home to various museums, galleries, theatres, and festivals, Brisbane is also an easy driving distance away from other Australian tourist hotspots like the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.
#Academy Program
For the Academy Program (Levels 3 – 1), all international students are required to undertake face-to-face secondary academic studies at Kelvin Grove State College. This program consists of a half-day of dance training and a half-day of academic studies, with further dance training on Saturdays.
As such, international students are required to meet the entry conditions set by Education Queensland International (EQI). This includes meeting English proficiency standards, and the visa requirements of the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs. The Academy of Queensland Ballet works in conjunction with Kelvin Grove State College to support the application process; however, it is the responsibility of the student and their parents/carers to gain a Confirmation of Enrolment from EQI as well as the appropriate visa.
International applicants for our Academy Program that reside overseas are eligible to apply via video audition submission. Please note this is the first stage in the audition application process for international applicants, and they may be asked to attend a live audition class prior to being made an offer.
To enter Kelvin Grove State College as a part of this program, students need to lodge an application through EQI. Different application open and close dates apply depending on the intended start date of study. All academic applications are required to be submitted through EQI, and students need to successfully obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment prior to starting their Academy Program training.
The Entry Requirement Standards are set by the Queensland Government’s Department of Education. It is important to allow sufficient time for your application and student visa to be processed prior to arriving in Queensland.
Academy Tuition Fees (2027)
Level 1 - $17,280 AUD per year
Level 2 - $17,4280 AUD per year
Level 3 - $16,160 AUD per year
EQI High School Program Tuition Fees (2027+)
Tuition and non-tuition fees apply for EQI: High School Program Fees. These fees are subject to change, are reviewed on an annual basis and usually increase each year in line with the Government Indexation Rate. Fees vary depending upon individual program and duration of study, so please see their website for further information.

Other Costs
For students, other costs include but are not limited to Academy uniforms, Kelvin Grove State College uniforms, dance shoes, excursions, performances, and tours.
International students will require a valid student visa for the entirety of their studies. Processing times may vary and are dependent upon the Department of Home Affairs. EQI Homestay
Kelvin Grove State College facilitates a successful Homestay Program in which international students live with a local family in their home. This enables students to have the opportunity to train at the Academy of Queensland Ballet while living in a safe and caring family environment. Each homestay family is visited by a dedicated Homestay Officer from Kelvin Grove State College to ensure that students are placed within a safe and suitable family home.

#Clark Graduate Program
The Clark Graduate Program is a full-time final year training program providing students with the preparation and training they require before joining a professional ballet company. Students must be turning 18 years of age within the year of commencement to be eligible for the program, and entry is via audition or invitation.
International applicants for our Clark Graduate Program that reside overseas are eligible to apply via video audition submission. Clark Graduate Program (First Year) - $17,380
Clark Graduate Program (Second Year) - $10,420
Other Costs
For students, other costs may include but are not limited to Academy uniforms, dance shoes, make-up, excursions, performances, and tours.
International students will require a valid visa for the entirety of the program. Depending on the type, each visa will have an associated application and processing cost to be incurred by the applicant. Please refer to the Department of Home Affairs to view visa eligibility, suitability, and expected costs.
Clark Graduate Program students are required to find their own accommodation for the duration of the program. The Academy can provide information and guidance around accommodation options in Brisbane; however, it is the responsibility of the student/family to research and secure a suitable placement.
Raymont Residential College
Raymont is a close-knit student accommodation community located within easy reach of Brisbane’s major tertiary education providers and within walking distance of public transport. Home to up to 130 students, the College provides a structured yet friendly environment that supports young people as they transition to independent living while pursuing high-performance training.
