Esteemed Choreographer Derek Deane is no stranger to Queensland Ballet. Following his highly acclaimed season of Strictly Gershwin with us in 2023, Deane returns to create a brand-new reimagining of The Nutcracker for Brisbane audiences.
Every ribbon, embellishment and carefully chosen fabric tells a story
A magical new world is taking shape behind the scenes of The Nutcracker. Designed by acclaimed costume and set designer Lez Brotherston, each costume has been imagined to enchant, surprise and transport audiences into a realm where magic lingers in every detail.
Now, inside our costume workrooms, these extraordinary designs are being brought to life by hand. From initial sketches to the final stitches, each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, transforming fabric and imagination into a spectacular cast of characters.
