Paul Knobloch
Paul Knobloch is an Australian choreographer, creative director, and ballet répétiteur, acclaimed for his mastery of ballet, contemporary dance, and theatre. His diverse portfolio includes contributions to stage, film, and television.
An honours graduate of The Australian Ballet School, he joined The Australian Ballet in 2002, swiftly rising to soloist before embarking on an international career. In 2009, he became a Principal Dancer with Béjart Ballet Lausanne and has performed worldwide with notable companies including English National Ballet, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, West Australian Ballet, and Sydney Dance Company. His repertoire spans a wide range of principal roles in the classical canon, earning him the admiration of leading choreographers who have commissioned him to create numerous original works. As a choreographer, Knobloch is recognised for seamlessly blending classical and contemporary styles, and for performances noted for their dynamic visual impact. His innovative vision has led to commissions for The Australian Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Singapore Ballet, Ballet Theatre Malaysia, and Ballet Victoria Canada, as well as for schools, festivals, and institutions across Australia, Canada, and the USA.
Knobloch is esteemed as a mentor, educator, and coach. He has served as a guest teacher with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Tokyo Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, St Petersburg Ballet, and numerous leading schools. Honoured in 2001 as ACT Young Australian of the Year, he has a string of accolades to his name. He currently works as a freelance choreographer and répétiteur for The Australian Ballet, its national tour, and Storytime Ballet.
