Foundation Program Selection Sessions
Our Foundation Program is open to students from across the Brisbane metropolitan area and delivered at our world class facilities based at Kelvin Grove State College, with some select classes at the Thomas Dixon Centre, home of the Queensland Ballet. Acceptance into this program is through a selection session, or by invitation.
#Selection Process
The Academy of Queensland Ballet invites young dancers from across Brisbane to participate in a selection session for the Semester 1 2026 intake of our Foundation Program—a nurturing, after-school training pathway designed to inspire a lifelong love of dance. This is the first point of entry into the Academy’s professional training pathway for children aged 6 to 11 years old.

Location: Academy of Queensland Ballet
Cost: $55
Applications open: 1 July 2025
Applications close: 21 November 2025
Selection session date: 24 November 2025 (Brisbane)
Venue: Academy of Queensland Ballet — Gate 1, 101 L’Estrange Terrace, Kelvin Grove, QLD, 4059
Schedule: Class times will be scheduled between 3:30 - 6:00pm and will be confirmed via email the week prior to the event.
Eligibility: Attendees may be enrolled at any school within the Brisbane metropolitan area, in a minimum academic level of Prep and maximum year 6.
Attire: Fitted comfortable clothing or dance/active wear.
Footwear: Ballet flats or socks (only) are allowed to be worn in the studio.

Venue: Thomas Dixon Centre, 406 Montague Road, West End, QLD 4101
Schedule: Class time 4.00-4.45pm, please arrive 15 minutes prior to sign in at the Welcome Desk.
Eligibility: Attendees may be enrolled at any school within the Brisbane metropolitan area and must be no younger than 6 and no older than 8 at the first day of the program commencement in 2026.
Attire: Fitted comfortable clothing or dance/active wear.
Footwear: Ballet flats or socks (only) are allowed to be worn in the studio.
